I’m a Associate Professor at the Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia campus from April 2021. Before that, I was a Senior Lecturer at Multimedia University, Malaysia where I led the Visual Processing Lab and Centre for Visual Computing.

Imad Gohar
I am a third-year PhD student at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia campus. My research interests include object detection, machine learning modelling and deployment, and drone-based visual monitoring. Currently, I am working on detecting defects on wind turbine blades captured from high-resolution drone images while also delving into other pertinent issues such as inconsistencies of annotations and interpretation of defects.

Lim Jia Yap
I am a second-year PhD student and a James-Watt Scholar at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia campus. My research interests include predictive modelling and statistical data science. Currently, I am working on understanding how user engagement levels can be better predicted in single-party and multi-party human-robot interaction (HRI) scenarios.

Poh Jia Qing
I am a second-year PhD student and a Research Assistant at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia campus. My research interests include multimodal learning, neural networks and statistical data analysis. Currently, I am working on multimodal learning techniques for predicting the emotional state of people in various in-the-wild naturalistic conversations such as video-conferencing scenarios and social interactions.

Jane Chek Zi Yan
I am a final-year BSc Statistical Data Science student at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia campus. My research interests include social media analytics and data analysis. Currently, I am working on a project that aims to study and understand social media engagement for museums on the TikTok platform, and how the fusing a diverse multimedia data can produce reliable predictive models.

Fong Bi Qi
I am a final-year BSc Computing Science student at Heriot-Watt University, Malaysia campus. My research interests include generative art, diffusion models, and animation scripting. Currently, I am working on BrandDiffusion, a project that builds a generative AI framework that creatively fuses branding components such as objects, stylisation, and typography to create new promotional materials.

Liong Gen Bing
I am an AI Engineer at Red Dot Analytics (Singapore) and a PhD student at University of Malaya. Before this, I was a data scientist at TM Research & Development. My research interests are in the areas of computer vision and deep learning. My doctoral research work on the analysis of micro-expressions from faces was co-advised by Dr. John See.
